I have a makita 2.0Ah 18v. Was using it outside and a sudden downpour got my stapler and battery wet. The stapler appears to be fine but the battery gives the fault indicator when you press the button, the first two indicator LED come on, then the next two flash on, alternating back and forth. I opened the battery up to see if there was still water inside or any apparent damage. I can't find anything outright wrong and when I put it on the charger, the red and green lights come on, indicating a bad battery. Any ideas as to what might have shorted out?
